Ne silazi sa čardaka
i ne pitaj gdje sam bio
zašto su mi oči plačne
zbog čega sam suze lio
Stajao sam kraj mezara
i umrlu majku zvao
nosio joj dar od srca
ali joj ga nisam dao
Ne klepeći nanulama
kad silaziš sa čardaka
sve pomislim, moja draga,
da silazi stara majka
Mosellied
Im weiten deutschen Lande
zieht mancher Strom dahin
von allen, die ich kannte
liegt einer mir im Sinn
O Moselstrand, o selig Land!
Ihr grünen Berge, o Fluss und Tal
ich grüß´ euch von Herzen
viel tausendmal
Es kommt so stolz gezogen
der Strom im Sonnenschein
und schlinget seine Wogen
durch heller Hügel Reih´n
O Sonnenglanz, o Wellentanz
ihr grünen Berge, o Fluß und Tal
ich grüß´ euch von Herzen
viel tausendmal
Und an des Stromes Bette
all überall im Tal
da stehen Dörfer, Städte
und Burgen ohne Zahl.
O Stadt und Land, o Stromesrand!
Ihr grünen Berge, o Fluss und Tal
ich grüß´ euch von Herzen
viel tausendmal
Da blühen holdsel´ge Frauen
und manches Mägdlein zart
und Mänenr magst du schauen
und Knaben guter Art
O Männermut, o Liebesglut
Ihr grünen Berge, o Fluss und Tal
ich grüß´ euch von Herzen
viel tausendmal
Auf sonn´ger Bergeseite
da steh'n die Reben schlank
in tiefer Keller Weite
da liegt manch kühler Trank
O lichter Schein, o kühler Wein
Ihr grünen Berge, o Fluss und Tal
ich grüß´ euch von Herzen
viel tausendmal
Und volle Krüg und Flaschen
die sind an jedem Ort
und wem sind leer die Taschen
der gibt ein gutes Wort
O froher Sang, o Gläser Klang
Ihr grünen Berge, o Fluss und Tal
ich grüß´ euch von Herzen
viel tausendmal
Wer fröhlich führt zum Munde
das Glas mit kühlem Wein
dem duften auf dem Grunde
viel tausend Blümelein
Ihr grünen Berge, o Fluss und Tal
ich grüß´ euch von Herzen
viel tausendmal
So seg´n euch Gott ihr Höhen
er segne Leut´ und Land
die Reben, die da stehen
auf grüner Bergeswand
O Moselstrand, o selig Land!
Ihr grünen Berge, o Fluss und Tal
ich grüß´ euch von Herzen
viel tausendmal

Step we gaily on we go
Heel for heel and toe for toe
Arm in arm and row and row
All for Mairi' s wedding
Over hill-way up and down
Myrtle green and bracken brown
Past the shieling through the town
All for Mairi's wedding
Plenty herring plenty meal
Plenty peat tae fill her creel
Plenty bonny bairns as weel
That's the toast for Mairi
Cheeks as bright as rowans are
Brighter far than any star
Fairest of them all by far is my darling Mairi
Over hill-ways up and down
Myrtle green and bracken brown
Past the sheiling through the town
All for sake of Mairi

Oh, it is the biggest mix-up that you have ever seen.
My father, he was Orange and me mother, she was green.
My father was an Ulster man, proud Protestant was he.
My mother was a Catholic girl, from county Cork was she.
They were married in two churches, lived happily enough,
Until the day that I was born and things got rather tough.
Baptized by Father Riley, I was rushed away by car,
To be made a little Orangeman, my father's shining star.
I was christened "David Anthony," but still, inspite of that,
To me father, I was William, while my mother called me Pat.
With Mother every Sunday, to Mass I'd proudly stroll.
Then after that, the Orange lodge would try to save my soul.
For both sides tried to claim me, but i was smart because
I'd play the flute or play the harp, depending where I was.
Now when I'd sing those rebel songs, much to me mother's joy,
Me father would jump up and say, "Look here would you me boy.
That's quite enough of that lot", he'd then toss me a coin
And he'd have me sing the Orange Flute or the Heros of The Boyne
One day me Ma's relations came round to visit me.
Just as my father's kinfolk were all sitting down to tea.
We tried to smooth things over, but they all began to fight.
And me, being strictly neutral, I bashed everyone in sight.
My parents never could agree about my type of school.
My learning was all done at home, that's why I'm such a fool.
They've both passed on, God rest 'em, but left me caught between
That awful color problem of the Orange and the Green.

Heel y'ho boys, let her go, boys
Bring her head round now all together
Heel y'ho boys, let her go boys
Sailing homeward to Mingulay!
What care we tho' white the Minch is
What care we for wind and weather?
Let her go boys, every inch is
Wearing homeward to Mingulay!
Wives are waiting on the bank, boys, .
Looking seaward from the heather.
Pull her 'round boys, and we'll anchor
'Ere the sun sets at Mingulay!
